Automatic Calibration

To calibrate a whole system in an accurate way is not an easy task. The Nexus Race software has an unique automatic calibration program, that will make calibration easier. In order to be able to use this function there is a minimum system requirement:

A NX2 FDX Server with
  • A log Transducer
  • A compass transducer (35° or 45°)
  • A GPS Antenna Silva or other NMEA antenna
  • A Silva GPS Navigator (NX2 GPS Navigator, Nexus GPS Navigator or Multi Center)
  • A PC with Nexus Race SW
  • The Nexus Twin Fin wind transducer for the optimum wind calibration procedure.
  • The Steer Pilot is strongly recommended (but not needed)!

During the calibration process the Nexus Race SW will automatically create reference waypoints and direct you to steer towards them via the Steer Pilot instrument.

The quality of the calibration is related to conditions such as the current, steady wind, wind shear and if you can perform the calibration on open water without other boats around you. After a completed calibration procedure, the system will download new calibration values for boat speed (port and starboard) and up-wash compensation.
